Forfour years, MIGAL researchers has been developing a vaccine against infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), which causes a bronchial disease affecting poultry. The poultry coronavirus has high genetic similarity to the human COVID-19, and that it uses the same infection mechanism. This could be a lucky break for minor modification of the existing vaccine to get a human vaccine approved in 90 days. The goal is to produce the vaccine during the next 8-10 weeks and to achieve safety approval in 90 days. The effectiveness of the IBV chicken virus vaccine has been proven in preclinical trials
