Nanotech platform Carries mRNA Directly to Target Cells

A new study explores a biological approach to directing nanocarriers loaded with protein “game changers” to specific cells. The groundbreaking method may prove useful in treating myriad malignancies, inflammatory diseases and rare genetic disorders. Lipid nanoparticles (LNP) were used to deliver modified messenger RNA to treat inflammatory bowel diseases and other diseases. Prof. Dan Peer, Molecular Cell Biology at TAU’s Faculty of Life Sciences, led the research for the new study. Nature Communications – Cell-specific delivery of modified mRNA expressing therapeutic proteins to leukocytes Over the past few years, lipid carriers encapsulating messenger RNAs (mRNAs) have been shown to be The post Nanotech platform Carries mRNA Directly to Target Cells appeared first on NextBigFuture.com .

Hyperpolarized quantum MRI increases sensitivity 100,000 times

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) methods have been used widely in past decades as a safe, non-invasive and non-radioactive method of diagnosing CVDs. Current MRI have limited sensitivity and even the most expensive MRI scanners (with the strongest magnets) cannot detect and visualize molecular and metabolic activity in the heart with sufficient sensitivity and specificity. Emerging hyperpolarized MRI techniques increased the sensitivity of MRI by up to five orders of magnitude. Above – The technique used in MetaboliQs is based on the hyperpolarization of marker molecules like pyruvate Foto: Dr. Christoph Nebel, Fraunhofer IAF Unfortunately, the hyperpolarization process takes a very The post Hyperpolarized quantum MRI increases sensitivity 100,000 times appeared first on NextBigFuture.com .

A few more critical successes over the next year will enable SpaceX to solidify the finances and funding for the BFR. The needed critical successes are the NASA crewed launch certification in mid-2019 and successful Falcon Heavy launches in 2019.
