Ant-Man 4 During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paul Rudd admitted its unlikely there’ll be another standalone Ant-Man movie anytime soon. I have no idea. I don’t know. Gerard Way Returns to Comics with Paranoid Gardens

Image: Dark Horse Comics Since 1994, My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has dipped in and out of making comics. Beyond teaming with Gabriel Bá on The Umbrella Academy , he started DC’s Young Animal imprint , teamed with acclaimed artists such as Nick Derington and Becky Cloonan, and co-created Peni Parker for Marvel. After a three-year absence from comics, Way has a new comic dropping in July from publisher Dark Horse. Co-written with Shaun Simon (his collaborator on The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys ) and drawn by Judge Dredd’s Chris Weston, Paranoid Gardens is described as “Derek meets Doctor Who in six psychotic episodes.” The book focuses on a care center worker named Loo, who decides to rise through the ranks of her (possibly sentient) hospital, but not without some roadblocks: along with corrupt staff and theme park cults, she’ll have to face “her own personal demons and trauma to meet this challenge and discover what secrets the gardens hold.” “I’m excited to be...

Open Channel: Tell Us Your Thoughts on Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Image: Sony Pictures In 2021, Ghostbusters: Afterlife came onto the scene as the first new entry since the mixed 2016 reboot , and as the official Ghostbusters 3 the franchise had been trying to birth for decades. A decent reception and solid box office success ensured it wouldn’t be a one-and-done, and here that sequel is with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire . Originally meant to come out last Christmas before getting punted to 2024 because of the Hollywood strikes, Frozen Empire picks up a few years after Afterlife. The Spengler family—Callie (Carrie Coon), Phoebe (McKennna Grace), and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard)—and Paul Rudd’s Grooberson are now doing the Ghostbusters thing in New York again as an official outfit tasked with saving the city from a ghost god looking to build an army and freeze the planet. Like the last movie, Empire’s getting mixed reviews across the board: some like how it channels the vibes of the old Real Ghostbusters cartoon and the nostalgia feels it’s bringing, ...

Low-protein diets promote health and longevity in diverse species. Restriction of the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) leucine, isoleucine, and valine recapitulates many of these benefits in young C57BL/6J mice. Marvel's Pride Covers Are (and Aren't) What You Think

Image: Davi Go/Marvel Comics Every year, Marvel and DC commemorate June with covers and stories centered around its stable of LGBTQIA+ characters. That tradition continues this year, but in Marvel’s case, it’s been deflating thanks to the messaging getting fumbled pretty badly. On March 21 (Thursday), Marvel revealed its list of books coming out in June. Most of them are tied to its upcoming Blood Hunt event, and several comics—X-Men #35, Amazing Spider-Man #52, Immortal Thor #12, and others—have “Pride Allies” variant covers. The titling would have you think that Marvel was celebrating Pride Month by focusing solely on allies—aka, “the straights”—of its LGBTQIA+ cast, which went about as well on social media as you’d expect. Flash-forward to March 22 (Friday), where Marvel put out an announcement about the Pride variants: specifically, the eight covers (four each drawn by artists Betsy Cola and Davi Go) will pair an LGBTQIA+ hero with a prominent straight character (with the ...

Anthony Mackie's Bummed Captain America 4 is a Sam Wilson Solo Act

Image: Marvel Studios Since 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie has popped up as former pilot (and Steve’s ever reliable bestie) Sam Wilson . Last we saw Sam, he’d finally accepted his role as the new Captain America in TheFalcon & the Winter Soldier , which was all the way back in 2021. Next year, Sam will headline his first solo film in Captain America: Brave New World , which follows on from that miniseries. Talking to Radio Times , the actor acknowledged he was fond of working on that show, which paired him with Sebastian Stan’s ex-cyborg assassin Bucky Barnes. “I was actually excited to do a second season, just so me and Sebastian can get paid to hang out,” he stated. “Because it’s like me, him and Daniel Brühl [as Zemo]. It’s kind of like the perfect storm of happiness. [...] Anything I can do to hang out with a dancing Daniel Brühl makes me very happy.” Brave New World’s full cast hasn’t been officially revealed, but Mackie confirmed neither ...

The Biggest Way Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Has Evolved From Its Predecessor

You’re gonna learn more about Kong in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Image: Warner Bros. The ending of Godzilla vs. Kong was so undeniably epic, it almost hurts to imagine the idea of topping it for a sequel. Thankfully, for director Adam Wingard, that wasn’t what he wanted to do. Sure, he could’ve brought even more monsters onto the screen and made the action that much bigger. Instead though, for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire , he had a new, riskier, idea. “The things that excite me about this film aren’t even the action—even though, as you know, we have tons of action in the movie,” Wingard told io9. “To me, it was being able to see the monsters just interact with each other in between the action scenes. [That] to me was more exciting. It’s almost like a character study, but with monsters.” The idea came early on in the process when Wingard began to think about what a second film featuring Godzilla and Kong would be. “I never was like, ‘Okay, we’ve got to top Godzilla vs....

Step Inside 3 Body Problem's Gorgeous and Dangerous VR World

John Bradley and Jess Hong in 3 Body Problem Image: Netflix In Netflix’s 3 Body Problem , an important plot point involves characters—including Jess Hong’s Jin and John Bradley’s Jack—playing an unsettlingly detailed VR game , where they’re tasked with (among other things) solving the very problem that gives the show its title. Bringing that surreal and vivid setting to life posed unique challenges for the show’s creators. A new video released by Netflix offers a peek inside how 3 Body Problem’s VR world—accessed in the show via a mysterious metallic helmet—was created, featuring insights from executive producers and showrunners D.B. Weiss, David Benioff, and Alexander Woo, as well as other members of the crew and cast. An Inside Look into the VR World of 3 Body Problem | Netflix “The VR headset is an experience no one on Earth has ever had before,” Weiss explains. “All of it, though, has to feel real,” Benioff adds, as the clip showcases the various places and time periods 3...
