The Minions Takeover Cannot Be Stopped at Universal Studios Orlando

Image: Universal Orlando Resort

There’s no stopping those yellow and blue overall-wearing Minions from wreaking havoc at Universal Studios Resorts, as long as their hold on the children doesn’t meet its match.

Illumination’s franchise hit characters are set to expand on their own turf at Universal Studio Orlando. Joining the Minion Mayhem attraction is Illumination Ave, a new family-friendly destination—or in my opinion, a boulevard of broken dreams for us Universal Monsters fans (RIP, Monsters Cafe). The new immersive area will add a new attraction—Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast—as well as several themed dining destinations inspired by the animated universe of those silly idiots kids can’t get enough of, and apparently neither can adults (looking at you, relatives who can’t stop sharing questionable, unauthorized Minions memes).

The Minions land, which will be one of the first park stops, invites guests and their kids to get all hopped up on sugar at Pop-a-Nana and Bake My Day before making their way to the Minions Cafe, which will feature savory options to manage the comedown.

Here’s an early look at the design of the place, a new ride logo, and the interesting food on the way.

Yes, this was once Monsters Cafe. The monsters have left the building but here are the Minions!

Cute, crispy, and creepy

We love us some grilled cheese but those Minion tots look like the result of some misbehavior in the capital potato punishment sense.

Agnes’s Honeymoon Soup

Yes, let’s trust a child to dream up some “good soup,” which looks to be a pea base, bacon bits, and... a gummy bear? I mean, if you think it will get a child to eat their veggies, go to town.

Despica-bowls

That’s not a dig, that’s what they’re called. Here’s one which appears to be a deconstructed (Minion) ramen bowel kids can disem-bowl.

Okay, this one looks appetizing save for the blue rice. It’s good to see a veggie option at least.

Cheesin’ it

A cheese-drenched meat sandwich before thrill rides? Now that’s truly villainous (we’ll take two)!

Go ahead... “Bake My Day”

Image: Universal Orlando Resort

I just really wanted to say that. Here’s a cute cupcake store which will likely feature those Minion Twinkie cupcakes that were all the rage.

Un-bear-able adorableness

Is this a cookie or a cake or a baked brownie ball? Who knows? We’ll get it for the content.

Can’t wait to be jacked up on all the sweets for Universal Orlando’s new ride and land opening this summer!

The Only Version of Return of the King Worth Watching Missing From Max After Streaming Bug

Screenshot: Warner Bros. Bad news for Max subscribers who’ve made re-watching The Lord of the Rings extended editions an annual New Year tradition: the third film in the trilogy, The Return of the King — which just celebrated its 20th anniversary! —is only available to stream in its theatrical version. No ancient evil is to blame, thankfully; it’s an unspecified “tech issue,” according to a Max spokesperson who responded to a comment request from Vulture after the issue was noted by dismayed fans on Reddit . The fact that The Return of the King extended edition is merely temporarily unavailable is actually good news given Max’s track record for removing content in the past, and the explanation makes sense considering The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers remain available in both their theatrical and extended editions. The Max spokesperson assured Vulture that The Return of the King extended edition will be, ah, returning soon to the service, though as of this writing i...

You Can Visit Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in Hollywood

Image: Universal Pictures Just in time for Halloween and for the release of Blumhouse and Universal Pictures’ Five Nights at Freddy ’s fans can visit a pop-up location of the fictional franchise from the game and film. That’s right, a Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza has mysteriously appeared in Hollywood. Like in the game and upcoming film, it’s a run-down spot that’s been closed down due to some mysterious activity within. Unfortunately, you can’t actually go in unless you’re hired as a security guard (kidding)—it’s just a facade for photo-ops you can visit. Check out the video captured by deadboifilms on TikTok below at the location on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood (near the Chateau Marmont Hotel). If you want to encounter the animatronic band of fuzzy and totally friendly creatures from the game, you’ll have to visit Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights, there’s a walk-through in the DreamWorks theater lobby that’s been taken over by Blumhouse which features the real Jim ...

Peter Zeihan is a geopolitical strategist who specializes in global energy, demographics and security. He has been quoted in national and international media on a variety of geopolitical topics. He makes a prediction in the video below about the breakup China and collapse of Germany. He bases this prediction on the assertion that the world has only been ordered from the start of Bretton Woods to today. This is from 1944 to today. On 15 August 1971, Bretton Woods ended when the US pulled out of the gold system. Zeihan is referring to the Pax Americana period.
